Today is the big day...well actually it was yesterday, but who's counting!
Today we launched our new and improved website and we couldn't be more pleased with how everything turned out. It's much cleaner, its brighter and it just has a better flow to it. Honestly I've wanted to make some serious changes for close to two years now, but it's a daunting task when you think about updating your website, your face to the world and in my case, my identity. The old website was a great way to show off my work but communicating anything with the general public was impossible, and in this day and age you need to let people know things once in a while and I felt I was falling behind.
2017 was a year of reflection for me and I was honestly on a professional level struggling a bit. Wedding bookings were down, it was an off year for me. I made some choices that I definitely regret with my business. I sat out many of the trade shows and for a time I even thought maybe my time as a wedding photographer was coming to an end. Hey I've had a great 15 year run and happy clients, but something was missing. I had kind of lost my passion for photography.
Now please don't worry for me. I was busy building my photo booth business and creating a school photography business, as well as a small yet mighty film production studio and trying to resurrect my newborn studio. All those endeavours are doing well, but it zapped my creativity when it came to weddings. Then three months ago I shot my first wedding in quite some time and I LOVED IT!!! It was a combination of an incredible couple and an amazing wedding party, mixed with a beautiful day and a series of random fun moments that...well...sold me on wedding photography AGAIN!!! I guess you could say I got my groove back.
I've had three weddings since then and they have all been so incredible and so many great photo moments have been created and so many wonderful compliments have been given to me. I started to remember why I got into this business in the first place. It's to help people through creative means and to give them an unforgettable experience that quite literally comes around once in their lives. It's a wedding damnit, you better enjoy it. So many things have to come into alignment for these special days to occur. People need to meet, fall in love, trust in each other and well, spend a small fortune..lol.
So you can definitely say WE'RE LIVE!!!! And I'm definitely thankful I gave wedding photography a second look. Sometimes when you have been doing something for as long as I have, you forget why you are doing it. But now I remember and I'm grateful.
